Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 3 cups semolina flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add semolina flour, all-purpose flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let the loaf rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Semolina flour can be found in most grocery stores or specialty markets.
- This bread has a lovely chewy texture and is great for making bruschetta.
