Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup chopped black olives
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, olive oil, olives, and rosemary. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let the loaf rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of green and black olives for a colorful and flavorful bread.
- This bread is excellent for making panini sandwiches or serving with cheese and charcuterie.
