  • Large mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add the flour and salt, then mix until a sticky dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Shape the dough into two oval loaves and place on a floured baking sheet.
  • Let the loaves rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
  • Let cool before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, add some chopped rosemary or thyme to the dough.
This bread is great for panini sandwiches.
