Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 3 1/4 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add the flour and salt, then mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Shape the dough into two oval loaves and place on a floured baking sheet.
- Let the loaves rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
For extra flavor, add some chopped rosemary or thyme to the dough.
